Hard to believe, but Kate Hunter's Kitchen has been in business for over 12 years. In 1998, I started Kate Hunter's Kitchen after working for two years at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Buckhead, and for ten years at The Easy Way Out. Since then we have continued to make perennial favorites, and have tried hundreds (if not thousands) of new recipes in the pursuit of delicious and healthy food.
Susan Cordell, my sister, joined me in the kitchen in 2001. Susan is an accomplished cook and gifted baker. She also makes the world's best granola. You can read all about it here, on her website.
Susan Mann keeps things running smoothly. She is the organizational force behind Kate Hunter's Kitchen and she makes sure we always have good music to listen to while we're cooking.
Last year Linda Douglass joined our staff. Linda is our utility infielder, bringing her considerable culinary skills to the kitchen as well as numerous years working as a bartender and successful behind-the-scenes management of client kitchens during their parties and dinners.
People want to know who Kate Hunter is. She is my daughter, Katherine Hunter Lewis. Kate doesn't spend much time in the kitchen, but knows good food when she sees it and encourages us to prepare more vegetarian cuisine.
For the past 5 or 6 years, a great deal of our business has been in providing "spa cuisine" on a weekly basis to families living in the Ansley Park, Buckhead and Vinings area. To us "spa food" has become more than low-calorie, low-fat cooking. It means thoughtful shopping and food preparation using ingredients that are healthy and taste good, too. It means being open to "new" vegetables and grains, and preparing them in innovative ways. It requires using seasonal produce, fresh herbs, and high-quality fish, meat and poultry.
We also make more "comfort food" than ever, and find ourselves constantly replenishing the freezer with the likes of Chicken Tetrazzini, Chipotle Turkey Meatloaf, Creamed Spinach, Squash Casserole, and so forth.
Cocktail parties, dinner parties and family gatherings play a big role in our repertoire. I enjoy working with customers to create interesting menus, and make their events go smoothly, as well as being fun and memorable. We can also supply reliable bartenders and servers for luncheons, dinners and parties.
